Mkomazi National Park
Tanzania's Conservation Frontier

Mkomazi National Park Tours with Enea Africa Tours
With Enea Africa Tours, Mkomazi National Park offers a safari experience focused on conservation and rare wildlife. Bordering Tsavo West National Park in Kenya, Mkomazi is a sanctuary for endangered species like the black rhino and African wild dog, alongside elephants, giraffes, and striking birdlife. Its semi‑arid landscapes and rugged beauty make it one of Tanzania's most unique destinations.
Location
Mkomazi lies in northern Tanzania, near Kilimanjaro and the Usambara Mountains. Covering 3,245 square kilometers, the park forms part of the greater Tsavo ecosystem, creating a vital corridor for migratory species between Tanzania and Kenya.
Getting There
-
By Air: International travelers arrive via Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). From there, domestic flights connect to nearby airstrips serving Mkomazi.
-
By Road: The park is accessible by road from Moshi or Arusha, with scenic drives past Kilimanjaro and the Pare Mountains.
Best Time to Visit
Mkomazi is best visited during the dry season (June – October), when wildlife gathers around scarce water sources. The wet season (November – May) brings lush scenery and excellent birdwatching, though wildlife can be more dispersed.
